Adding Multiple Catalogue items (Within the same hierarchy)

The Issue

On occasions there are times when you wish to add multiple catalogue items within the same:
  • Work Category,
  • Level 2 Group, and 
  • Level 3 Groups,
The issue is that if you use Add New Catalogue item, each time you "Save", or "Save and Add", the system requires that you select each of the three drop downs for every item you add. This can be time consuming if there are many items to add, and especially if the description only requires a small modification , ie a change in the diameter.

The Solution


Instead of using the "New Catalogue Item",
  1. Use the search facility to find an existing Catalogue Item in the same group structure,
  2. Click on the "eye" to view the detail,
  3. From within the "More" drop-down (top right of screen), select "Copy This Catalogue Item", you are presented with the new (copy) item in edit mode,
  4. Make the changes to the detailed items including the description, mins etc. You may even change one of the classifications, then save the item. 
  5. You are taken to the Detail view of the new item,
  6. Repeat steps 3 through 5 until you have entered all the items in the group....
